About

Cold Arid Code?

Cold Arid Code is a non-profitable side hustle, developing iOS applications as a hobby alongside my day job. This website provides information about my applications as well as the odd review, occasional opinion piece and updates on what’s in development.

What kind of a name is Cold Arid Code anyway? Well, it rolls nicely off the tongue and is obscure enough not to have already been taken. As an added bonus, it lends itself rather well to a nice simple logo. It came about because the team (my wife and I) have been deliberating over what we consider the ideal climate. I like warmth and guaranteed sunshine, whilst my wife likes cool nights and low humidity. There aren’t many places in the world that meet both those criteria, but those that do fall into the Köppen climate classification of BSk or Cold Semi-Arid. Thus Cold Arid Code was born.

The Day Job

Why is it relevant what I do for a living? Well, it might provide some insight into why my first app (PilotCalc) was developed. In fact, the day job is a bit of a misnomer. I work as a pilot for a European regional cargo operator, and short haul cargo operations, fly mainly at night.

Please take a look at the Applications Page for a bit of detail on PilotCalc and TimeTick (both now available on the Apple App Store) and if you are interested, keep an eye on this website or follow @coldaridcode on X/Twitter or coldaridcode@mastodonapp.uk for the latest updates.
